The secret to be spy-proof…..
We read in Luke 20:20, how the Chief priests and the scribes, sent some spies to Jesus to see how they can trap Jesus with His words and turn him over to the Governor to be arrested.
But Jesus saw through their trickery and gave them an answer that dumbfounded them. Their question was if one should pay taxes to Caesar.
And they wanted to corner Jesus if he said it was not necessary pay taxes to Caesar – but Jesus outwitted them and told them “Render to Caesar that which belongs to Caesar and render to God that which belongs to God”.
So how can we take on those who come surreptitiously to us to trick us or seduce us?
We can learn from in the life of Joshua who got tricked when the people who lived in the neighboring cities (that he was supposed to destroy), came to him deceptively claiming they were from a far country.
And the Bible says, Joshua entered into a treaty with them because he “did not ask counsel from the Lord”. Joshua 9:14
So in our lives too, the way to be spy-proof, is to ask “counsel from the Lord” every time we have to make a critical decision. And not to be fooled by what we see or hear.
Hence to be spy-proof, our only hope is to ask “counsel from the Lord” each and every time we have to make important decisions!
Will we?
