God will provide – but have you done your part?
In Luke 12:24, we read “Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!”
In this verse Jesus reminds us that it is He who provides food for even the insignificant sparrow. But how does this happen?
Does God send his thousands of angels every day to drop food for the birds in their nests? Does he just miraculously make food available for each of these birds? So how does God feed them?
We just have to look around to see how God “feeds the birds” and it will reveal how God will provide for our needs. Birds (from dawn to dusk) are out there pecking away looking for food. They don’t sit in their nests expecting God to drop food into their mouths.
But instead they diligently and tirelessly go about pecking away in search of food. Similarly God expects us to do our “pecking and searching” in order that He can provide for us.
To think that God will provide for you when you refuse to do your “pecking and searching”, is a delusion and a lie from the devil.
To claim you are “living by faith” and refusing to do work that will be useful to others is both a deception and living in denial.
Working for our sustenance is God-ordained. That is why Paul in 2 Thess 3:10 says, “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”
Because when we work, God will ensure He will feed us – just like He feeds the birds who from dawn to dusk faithfully are pecking away!
Have you been pecking away – or are you waiting for your provision to fall from heaven directly into you lap?
