Is your tithe at the expense of “justice and love for God”?
In Luke 11:42, Jesus chides the Pharisee’s by telling them ” “What sorrow awaits you Pharisees! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore justice and the love of God. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things”
The Pharisee’s were meticulous and fastidious about tithing by giving a tenth of everything they grew in their garden and also from every known source of income.
They were more satisfied in giving of their tithes than in practicing the more important aspects of godly living which included sincerely loving God and being just and righteous in all their dealings.
Paul reminds us that God “loves a cheerful giver” And not someone who gives out of a sense of obligation. Because it is possible to tithe mechanically without any love for God or for His kingdom.
Is your tithing to God void of love for Him and His children?
