Have you come to accept the peaks and valleys in your life as a Christ-follower?

Have you come to accept the peaks and valleys in your life as a Christ-follower?

In John 10:10 Jesus said He came to “give life and life abundantly”. Wow, what a promise!

But in John 16:33 He also said, “in the world you will have tribulation”.

(Tribulation in Greek is thlip’-sis, which means to experience pressure, oppression, affliction, distress or anguish).

So we can see, how Jesus spoke of a rich and abundant life in Him, which will also be entwined with on-going tribulation (or thlip-sis) that we must be prepared to face.

We see how Jesus in verse 44, just after the amazing (out-of-the-world) experience on the Mount of Transfiguration, He began to talk about his death and suffering that would soon follow.

God always blesses his children with mountain top experiences of joy and victory and also leads them through the “valley of shadow of death”, through which we may have to pass, time and again.

And even though He will lead us through the valleys, He has promised His presence, power and companionship through it all!

So, will you embrace both the good and the difficult that God may allot to you, from time to time?

Or do you want a life in which only the blessings matter – and you would rather avoid the tribulations He will allow from time to time?
