Have you ever experienced “communion of saints”?
In Luke 9: 28-35, we see Jesus take Peter, James and John through an amazing experience, that was truly out-of-the-world in every sense!
On the Mount of Transfiguration, Moses and Elias appeared and were in earnest discussions with Jesus about his imminent death (and resurrection) that would soon happen in Jerusalem.
Moses lived about 4000 years before Jesus’ time – and Elias lived about 2000 years before Jesus’ time. But now they appeared as live individuals who were in conversation with Jesus.
Before he took Peter, James and John to this Mount, Jesus said some of his disciples will not taste death till they had “seen the Kingdom of God”.
And this experience on the Mount of Transfiguration was a sublime and supreme manifestation of the Kingdom to come!
An intimate peek and a foretaste of what each believer will experience when His kingdom comes!
What Peter, James and John experienced is what is otherwise known “communion of the saints”.
The Apostles Creed specifically includes the affirmation of the “communion of the saints” in its declaration.
The “communion of the saints” will describe the active, vibrant and intimate spiritual fellowship disciples of Christ enjoy and savor with each other.
It also includes the “cloud of witnesses” Paul describes in Heb 12:1, who from the heavenlies watch, observe and cheer believers in their spiritual journey!
No believer can live in spiritual isolation. Experiencing the fellowship and mutual encouragement of other believers should be the norm – never the exception!
So when did you last savor and enjoy the “communion of the saints” with your fellow believers?
Were you enriched, energized and excited being in the company of those who love the Lord, like you?
