Being the Messiah (the Anointed One) also includes shame and rejection…
In Luke 9;20 Peter responds to Jesus’ question to the disciples “But whom say ye that I am?” by declaring “You are the Christ of God (Christos in Greek means the Messiah)”.
After this profound declaration by Peter, Jesus begins to foretell the suffering that awaits Him and the rejection that He must suffer by the religious establishment.
There is price to pay in the Kingdom of God for those who want to live out God’s purposes for their lives!
The price can include suffering, share and rejection which otherwise can be avoided.
But the price to pay is nothing compared to the reward that awaits a disciple of Jesus.
Heb 12:2, tell us that Jesus “despised the shame of the cross” to finally sit down at the right hand of the Father! What an awesome reward!
Jesus despised the shame of the cross to secure His reward. Will you?
