When God provides, it is always bountiful and overflows….
In Luke 9:17, we read that after the 5000 were fed, Jesus asked them to pick up the fragments. And they were able to fill 12 baskets with these fragments.
And the Bible says, “And they did eat and were filled”. Not one was left hungry.
In this incident, the Bible records the number of men to be 5000 – which means including wives and children, it could easily be in excess of 15,000 people who were fed to their full!
Whether it was manna that fed the children of Israel in the wilderness or the oil and flour which did not run dry for the widow who was taking care of Elijah during the famine (1Kings 17:13), God’s provision always is enough – with a lot of leftovers!
When God provides, His provision is always in excess. It overflows.
That is why David in Psalm 23 says, “my cup overflows”. When George Mueller trusted God to feed more than 5000 orphans daily, his provisions never ran dry.
Not once did those children miss a meal because God always miraculously provided, even if it was at the last minute.
When did your cup last overflow?
