He whom God appoints, He anoints….

1. He whom God appoints, He anoints….

Arthur Katz, a man of God (and a Jewish believer) in his book Apostolic Foundations, once profoundly said “He whom God appoints, He anoints”.

This is a truth that runs consistently throughout the Old and New Testaments. Be it a Moses or a David or a Elijah, when God appoints a person for a task or mission, He also anoints, equips and empowers them to accomplish His purposes.

We see this truth in Luke 9:1, when He gave his twelve disciples “power and authority” over devils and diseases, when he sent them to preach the kingdom of God.

The words “power” is “dunamis” in Greek and represents the intrinsic ability to carry out special tasks or activities. “Dunamis” is also the root-word for the word “dynamite” in English.

The word “authority” is “exousia” in Greek and signifies “positional power”. Power which accompanies appointment to an office or position.

Burn-out happens in Christian ministry, when believers attempt to accomplish Kingdom purposes, without the God-given power (dunamis) and authority (exousia).

When Jesus sent out his twelve disciples, he chose to told them “Take nothing for your journey, neither staff, nor wallet, nor bread, nor money; neither have two coats”. (Luke 9:3)

Why did He do that?

Because when His disciples have His “power (dunamis) and authority (exousia)”, all their physical needs will be generously taken care of – every single time!

Have you attempted to do His ministry without His “power (dunamis) and authority (exousia)”?

Dont be surprised, if your best efforts lead to burn-out!
