Fear paralyses – whereas faith is bold like a lion…..
In Luke 8:25, we see how Jesus woke up and unequivocally “rebuked the wind and the raging of the waters” and the storm hushed in quiet silence.
The disciples were more than astonished when they saw how the wind and raging sea became calm after Jesus rebuked it.
They simply could not fathom how the elements of nature could be so subdued by the authority of this Man called Jesus.
So why were the disciples so powerless in a context in which Jesus was so powerful and decisive? The answer is fear and the spirit of panic!
John Stott, a man of God once very profoundly said “Faith is the refusal to panic”.
In other words, fear and faith cannot co-exist in the same bosom. It is always one or the other.
When we stoke our fears, we crush our faith. When we stoke our faith, we will overcome our fears.
So what will you stoke today? Your faith or your fears?
