Is your sabbath a ritual or an opportunity to be rich in good works?

In Luke 6:9, Jesus asks us “Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?”

We can reduce Sabbath to be a mere ritual. And feel satisfied that we have obeyed the law by observing it. But Jesus said the sabbath was created to “do good and to save life”. How much are we using our Sunday’s to be rich in good works?

Will it not be amazing if Christians took the time to feed the poor and reach out to those who in need every Sunday?

Jesus shows us that doing good on the shabbat is indeed pleasing to God!
