Gleanings from our Bible study in Luke 6

Do you have the gift of tears?

In Luke 6:21, we read Jesus teaching his disciples about the blessedness of weeping! We often think of weeping as something we rather avoid – and we only allow it when we are helpless or if we are overwhelmed by a breakdown!

But Jesus reminds us of the value of tears. Weeping brings us to a place of helpless dependence on the Lord. Strong people dont cry – only the weak and helpless do.

In fact weeping should become a part of a believers lifestyle. The Puritans who were the founding fathers of America often prayed, “Lord give me the gift of tears”! Because tears always ensured a “broken and contrite” spirit – which pleases God!

When did you last weep asking the Lord for a breakthrough?
