(Below is a conversation between the Lord and his daughter – it brings out the common fallacy of being preoccupied about the Lord rather than with Him.)
"Hello?"
"Daughter?"
"Yes?"
"Hi there, it’s Jesus. I hope I didn’t catch you at a bad time?"
"Oh, no! Of course not, Lord. I was just reading about you, a letter from John, but I can read it any time, I guess. I was just getting to the good part though… anyhow, what can I do for you? Did I ever tell you that I am so thankful for all you did for me? I don’t know how I’d ever repay you.. I mean, you should read what John was just saying about you!"
"Well, I was hoping we could get together, just you and me. That is, if you’re not too busy."
"I’d love that, Lord! let me look at my calendar. I’ve got my poetry club with King David on Monday night, Tuesday night, King Solomon is giving a seminar on wisdom, I was really looking forward to that. Wednesday, Prophet Isaiah, you know him? Well he’s going to be taking us on a treasure hunt, giving us clues to the Messiah, oh right, that’s you, so you’d know all about that. Thursday… well, I’m doing this real interesting study on Revelations with John. Friday, let me check …maybe, umm well to be honest, I’ve been meaning to read Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, meaty stuff in there! All about being in Christ in heavenly places .. oh right, you’d know all about that too!"
Well, your studying all about me is wonderful and those are all great people you mentioned, I love them all, they are part of my family but I’d really like you to get to know me a bit better and not just know about me".
"Daughter?"
"Yes, Lord?"
"How about it? Just you and I getting together? I’ve got some parables I’d love to give you insight into as you read them in my presence. I think you’ll find what I got to say to be pretty interesting and probably pretty helpful with those new challenges in your life.
I’ve got some pointers on how to handle your money and how to deal with those difficult neighbours of yours, too. While we’re at it, I’d love to pray for you, you know John was right there, hearing me pour out my heart the night I prayed for him and the other disciples and I was praying my heart for you that night as well."
"Thanks for praying for me and it’s been far too long, just you and me, with me sitting at your feet, listening to what you have to say. But Lord?"
"Yes, daughter?"
"Will you forgive me? I’ve been so busy learning about you that I’ve neglected learning directly from the horse’s mouth, if you’ll pardon the expression."
"Daughter?"
"Yes Lord?"
"Of course I forgive you and I pardon you for the expression as well".
Are you willing to drop everything else and find time to just sit at His feet and learn from Him?
