A prophet will always speak of what is lacking in a church, and point out where it is imbalanced. He will have discernment from God about the current need of the people to whom he ministers. The greatest need in every church today is for prophetic ministry – through which the Spirit speaks saying, "No. Not that way. This way."
Sadly many preachers today prepare their sermons by reading books and magazines and by listening to tapes – in order to impress their hearers.
Prophets however, are not like that. They listen to God, and tell the people exactly what God wants them to hear. And so a prophet may preach on one theme repeatedly, until the imbalance in a church is corrected. Professional preachers, however, may be afraid of preaching the same message even twice to the same congregation.
What a desperate need there is for prophets in our day!

Dear Friend,
It is with sadness that I want to share with you the news of the home call of a prophet in our generation – our beloved Brother David Wilkerson. He was a fearless prophet in our generation who spoke against the carnality of christians, the coldness in the church and the lack of God’s power in today’s christian ministries. You would have read his writings in our Think It Over’s and trust you were blessed by his spiritual insight and godly passion. In fact one of his last blog’s which I reproduced for you concluded this way "Keep the faith. Things are winding down – but we are going up!" Indeed how truly he went "up" to be with the Lord. We will miss him – and may God raise many more David Wilkerson’s to fulfill His kingdom purposes in this day and age!
