I can easily imagine the followers of Jesus praying that God would release Jesus from the false accusers at His trial or from the Roman torturers. If there were churches in that day, the prayer chain would be buzzing. “Our leader, Jesus Christ, has been taken prisoner. Pray that God will set Him free. Please pray that He will not be crucified. How can this be happening to an innocent man? It must be Judas’ fault. It must be the Romans fault, or the religious hierarchy?”
Do you suppose we would ever have asked, “What is God’s purpose here?”
Sometimes bad consequences and circumstances are exactly what God engineers.
Will you trust God that His sovereign purposes are perfect even if it does not make sense to you?
